The extent and nature of the collection, processing and use of your data differs according to whether you visit our website merely to call up generally available information or to make use of additional services:

The IP address of your computer is only stored in so-called log files for the time of your use of the website and is then immediately deleted or made anonymous by a shortening. The remaining data is stored for a limited period of time. We use this data for the operation of our website, in particular to detect and correct website errors, to determine the website load and to make adjustments or improvements.
b) Use in case of use of further services
If you make use of further services of our company via our website, it may be necessary for you to provide personal data.
Which personal data is required for the provision of services is determined by the respective input mask.
We will only collect those personal data that are necessary to provide the service you have chosen, for example your postal address for billing purposes when choosing the payment method "on account". Contact form
On our website we offer you the possibility to get in contact with us and other companies of the SYNLAB group by means of a contact form.
Subject to the following explanations, the recipient of your message will be determined by the description in the respective contact form. If you do not send us a contact request, we will not be informed about the content of these messages, since the messages are received directly by the respective companies. Questions regarding invoicing are directly sent to our invoicing centre, which processes the inquiries on behalf of the medical practices, hospitals and medical care centres stated in the invoices. Your inquiry will therefore also be known to persons at these clients.
The personal data that you provide in the context of this contact enquiry will only be used to process your enquiry and will be deleted from the web server immediately. We would like to point out that the recipients of the messages may retain the messages within the scope of legally existing retention obligations. Subject to the foregoing, no information will be passed on to third parties.
The transmission of data entered in the contact forms is encrypted, whereby we have chosen end-to-end encryption in addition to TLS 1.2 transport encryption.
Newsletter
If you want to order our newsletter, we need your e-mail address and the confirmation that you are the owner of the e-mail address and agree to receive the newsletter. This data is only collected for the purpose of sending you the newsletter and to document our authorization in this regard. The data will not be passed on to third parties. You can cancel your order for the newsletter at any time with effect for the future.

Cookies, web analysis tools and Google Maps
(a) Use of cookies
Depending on your browser settings, we also collect information about your use of our website through the use of so-called cookies. These are small text files which are stored on your data carrier and which store certain settings and data for exchange with our system via your browser. A cookie usually contains the name of the domain from which the cookie data was sent as well as information about the age of the cookie and an alphanumeric identifier. Cookies enable our systems to recognize the user's device and make any pre-settings immediately available. As soon as a user accesses the platform, a cookie is transferred to the hard disk of the user's computer. Cookies help us to improve our website and to be able to offer you a better and even more customized service. The only data stored in the cookies we use is the information about your use of the website as explained above. Furthermore, we use cookies in connection with the booking process within our event portal. These cookies are used to record the login status and user data (e.g. personal greeting after login). The length of time this cookie is stored depends on the settings you have made in your browser.

b) Web analysis through Matomo / Scope of the processing of personal data
We use the open source software tool Matomo (www.matomo.org), formerly PIWIK on our website to analyse the surfing behaviour of our users. Matomo is an open source tool for web analysis. Matomo does not transmit data to servers outside SYNLAB's control. Matomo does not collect session data without your consent. Matomo uses cookies. These text files are stored on your computer and enable us to analyse the use of our website. For this purpose, the information on usage obtained by the cookie is transmitted to the SYNLAB server and stored so that usage behaviour can be evaluated.
The protection of your data is important to us, which is why we have additionally configured Matomo so that your IP address is only recorded in abbreviated form. We therefore process your personal usage data anonymously. It is not possible for us to draw conclusions about your person.
SYNLAB sees this analysis as part of its Internet service. It wants to use it to further improve the website and adapt it even more to the needs of the users.
If you consent to web analysis using Matomo, the following data is collected when you access individual pages of our website:
- 2 bytes of the IP address of the user's calling system.
- The web page accessed
- The web page from which the user has accessed the accessed web page (referrer)
- The sub-pages called up from the called-up website
- The time spent on the website
- The frequency with which the web page is accessed

The software runs exclusively on the servers of our websites. Personal data of the users is only stored there. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website is not passed on to third parties. You can decide here whether a web analysis cookie may be stored in your browser to enable SYNLAB to collect and analyse statistical data.
c) Use of Google Maps
This website uses Google Maps, a mapping service of Google Inc, Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA to display an interactive map. By using Google Maps, information about your use of this website (including your IP address) can be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google may transfer the information obtained to third parties if this is required by law or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Only when you actively click on the interactive map yourself will your internet browser establish a connection to the Google servers. We do not pass on your personal data to third parties, unless you have consented to the passing on of data or we are entitled or obliged to pass on data due to legal regulations and/or official or court orders. Deletion and blocking of personal data after fulfilment of purpose
We process and store personal data only as long as it is necessary for the fulfilment of the purpose, at the latest, however, until the expiry of the statutory retention and storage periods. Upon fulfilment of the purpose and expiry of the statutory retention and storage periods, the personal data will be deleted or blocked in accordance with the data protection regulations.
Right of appeal
