For more than a year now, SYNLAB has been at the forefront in the fight against the spread of SARS-CoV-2. This pandemic has become a serious challenge for public health, economy and social life in Europe and other regions of the world. As the leading pan-European clinical laboratory and medical diagnostic services provider, we immediately recognised our responsibility and stepped up to face this challenge.
I am still impressed by how fast our teams have ramped up our testing capacities across the entire network to respond to the increasing demand for SARS-CoV-2 testing. Despite this enormous need for SARS-CoV-2 tests, which we have covered, we have always been able to fully meet the demand for medical diagnostics. Testing remains essential for mapping the virus spread and for breaking chains of infections. We drove innovations, enhanced our supplier relationships, onboarded new staff and did not shy away from large investments. Taking the risk of these significant investments to best serve patient and customer needs, was the right thing to do. Our hard work and commitment have paid off; all the extra miles we went enhanced internal collaboration across our network, accelerated digitalization and have strengthened our position in the market.
